Call for Contractors  

 

Psychologist, Registered Social Worker, or Canadian Certified Counsellors. 

 

  • The program will assist the child to develop greater awareness of and capacity to regulate their emotions and related body sensations.  

  • The program will utilize play, crafts and art as a means of building trust, encouraging expression and facilitating improved capacity for social engagement.  

  • The program provides the child’s caregiver and case worker with a Program Orientation package containing a program overview and information on developmental trauma and resources.  

  • After the 20 sessions are complete, a Case Consultation is held with the case worker and caregiver to communicate progress and recommendations for ongoing supports for the child. A summary report will be provided. 

 

The position is a 1 year contract, with potential to sign for future years.  Hourly rate is dependent upon experience and is negotiable.  The Employee will provide: 

  • Minium commitment of 15 hours, up to full time available, provide therapeutic services for the Supporting Children’s Resilience program under the Children’s Mental Wellness Initiative. The provider will incorporate the Self- Regulation model and other therapeutic modalities while working with children referred to the agency from Edmonton and Area Child and Family Services. A block of 15 hours will be allotted regardless of client cancellation.  

 

These hours include the following duties: 

 

  • Provide therapeutically based support to children and youth at the Children’s Services office.    

  • Attend case consultation meetings with Team members 

  • Maintain all client documentation involving client and caregiver consultation, sessions and evaluations. 

  • Maintain data regarding client outputs and outcomes and prepare documents and evaluations for each client when needed. 

  • Maintain contact with the child’s primary caregiver and Child Protection worker when necessary. 

  • Supervision and consultation with the Executive Director will occur on an as needed basis as issues arise.  

 

Qualifications:  

 

  • Registered Psychologist, Registered Social Worker, or Canadian Certified Counsellor will be considered. 

  • Background in Somatic Experiencing, Self-Regulation Therapy or similar modalities aimed at assisting children and youth to self regulate and renegotiate trauma  

  •  Experience working with Indigenous children and youth who have experienced trauma is necessary. 

  • Knowledge of the Child Welfare system and how Indigenous children can be impacted by family violence. 

  • Self identification of Indigenous ancestry an asset.
